90s Halloween Costumes

So if someone said to you "What's the best 90's Halloween Costumes?" what would you say?

What flashes through your mind first: Movies, film stars, pop stars, cartoon caracters?

Well in this article we will try to suggest the best, brightest and of course the most scary ideas for nineties halloween costumes.



Lets start with...

Movies of the 90s:

There were some truely iconic movies in the 90s that lend themselves beautifully to costumes for halloween or any other fancy dress occasion.

Think Wayne's World, Austin Powers, Men in Black for instantly recognisable costumes or try something a little more suttle and go as Forest Gump: sneakers, t-shirt and a box of chocolates under your arm.

TV Shows

What TV shows do you remember from the 90s? I think for me there are only 2 that really stand out:

 

 Baywatch

With their iconic red swimsuits the baywatch lifeguards are instantly recognisable.

There are a host of baywatch costumes and accessories available but this may be one costume for the warmer climates!

 

 

 

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

This hit TV show from the end of the 90s was a huge success and is perfect for Halloween.

Dress up as Buffy: Blond hair, leather jacket with a white prom dress, black boots and a cross necklace, then add stakes or a crossbow.

For the guys go as Spike: Blonde slicked back hair, t-shirt, leather jacket, jeans and an English accent!

 

 

 

Music Stars of the 90s

The Spice Girls

Their 'reunion' gig at the closing of the London 2012 Olympics certainly put the Spice Girls back in the limelight. Going to your halloween party as any of the Spice Girls would be very memorable! Or even better, get 4 girlfriends and go as the whole group.

Michael Jackson's Thriller Outfit

Who could forget the thriller video. Perfect for Halloween and instantly recognisable. Be the king of pop for the night - but try to keep the groin grabbing to a minimum!

Cartoon Characters

There are some really excellent cartoon characters from the 90s that are still instantly recognisable today and some are still very much in vogue.

The Mutant Hero Ninja Turtles are still very popular thanks to the recent films and offer a gret opportunity for solo or group costumes - if there are more than 4 of you, you can always add master splinter or some of the other characters to complete your group.

 Another firm favorite it the Simpsons. Still as popular as when the show first came out and always available to watch on one of the re-run channels. With such a great selection of characters the only real problem is who you are going to be!


A little less remembered are the Power Rangers. There are some great costumes available for them and they offer the option for co-ordinated group outfits.
